  • The Autonomous Region of the Azores is one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal, the other being Madeira. In the Archipelago of the Azores there are nine major Azorean islands and an islet cluster: to the west, Flores and Corvo; in the middle, Graciosa, Terceira, São Jorge, Pico and Faial; to the east, and São Miguel, Santa Maria and the Formigas Reef.
